Common Questions

Trust & Safety

How do I know my money is safe with Monetic?
Monetic Pay is a software layer. Funds and payments move through regulated partner rails. Balances you see in the app are denominated in USDC and settle via our partners’ infrastructure. We use strong encryption, device-bound passkeys, and risk controls to prevent unauthorized access. If you ever see activity you don’t recognize, contact support immediately so we can secure your account and investigate.
What happens if a seller doesn’t deliver what I bought?
Start by contacting the seller and requesting a refund with your receipt/transaction ID (Recent Activity → tap the payment). If the seller is unresponsive after a reasonable period, open a support ticket with your order details, screenshots, and any correspondence. We’ll coordinate with the seller and our partners to review the case. Outcomes depend on the transaction type and seller policy; clear documentation speeds resolution.
Can Monetic reverse a payment if I was scammed?
Payments are designed to be fast and final once confirmed—we can’t unilaterally reverse them. Report suspected fraud immediately. We’ll flag the seller, freeze further payment requests if warranted, and work with partners and the seller on a resolution. Provide evidence (messages, invoices, receipts) to strengthen your claim.
How do I verify that a seller is legitimate?
Only scan QR codes or pay links shown by the seller at checkout or on their official site or premises. In the app, verify the seller name and amount before confirming. If something looks off, cancel and ask the seller to regenerate the request.
Does Monetic store my card or bank details?
Card/bank info used for top-ups is tokenized and handled by our payment partners; Monetic does not store raw numbers. We keep minimal metadata needed to operate your account and meet regulations. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Who regulates Monetic or its partners?
Monetic provides the app interface. Financial services (top-ups, settlement, conversions) are provided by regulated partners under their program rules and applicable law. Your onboarding may require identity checks to satisfy these obligations.
What happens if Monetic ever shuts down?
Funds move through partner rails and are not custodied by Monetic. They are self custodied, you control your own money. If service ended, we’d provide instructions to transition your assets elsewhere. Keep your contact email current in Settings.
Are my funds insured or protected?
Balances display in USDC. This is not a bank account and is not FDIC-insured. Protection comes from program rules, monitoring, and your security practices (passkeys, device lock, fast reporting). Always verify the seller and amount before confirming.

Payments & Process

How long do payments take to show up for the seller?
Payments settle to the seller instantly behind the scenes once you confirm. Your activity feed updates immediately and the seller’s system is notified in real time.
What happens if I send money to the wrong seller?
Verify the seller name and amount before approving. If you paid the wrong seller, contact support immediately with the transaction ID. We’ll attempt outreach, but reversals require the recipient’s cooperation. Fast reporting improves the chance of recovery.
Can I cancel a payment after I send it?
Once confirmed, payments are final. If you made a mistake, request a refund from the seller and include your transaction details.
Are there transaction limits?
Monetic requires full identity verification (KYC) for all users. Once verified, there are no fixed limits on how much you can spend or transfer between verified parties inside Monetic.

Funding limits may apply when you add money to your account, as those limits are set by our banking and card partners. If you’re unsure about a transaction amount or encounter an error when topping up, please contact support@monetic.xyz for guidance before proceeding.
What payment methods can I use?
Top up by card or by bank transfer (ACH/Wire), then pay sellers by scanning their QR and confirming in-app. Available methods vary by region and verification status (shown in-app).
Are there fees to send or receive money?
Any fees are shown before you confirm a top-up or payment. Fees vary by method (card vs bank), region, and seller program. You’ll always see the amount you’ll pay.
Why did my top-up fail or get declined?
When you add funds by card, you’re purchasing a regulated digital asset (USDC). Some banks and card issuers automatically block or restrict this type of transaction by default.

If your top-up was declined, contact your card issuer and request that they allow digital asset or cryptocurrency-related purchases. Once approved, you can retry the top-up immediately in the app.

If the issue persists after speaking with your card provider, reach out to support@monetic.xyz so we can review your specific case and help you complete the transaction safely.
Can I split a payment between card and balance?
Not currently. If your balance is short, top up first (card or bank) then complete the payment.

Adding & Withdrawing Money

How do I add money to my Monetic account?
Open the app → How To Top Up → choose Card or Bank transfer (ACH/Wire) → confirm. Live status is shown in the app.
How long does a top-up take?
Card top-ups are finalized as soon as the funds clear from your issuing bank, this typically takes ~2 buiness days. ACH typically clears in ~2 business days; wires are faster but depend on bank cutoffs. The app shows status and ETA for each top-up.
Can I withdraw my balance back to my bank?
Yes. Use withdraw/off-ramp to send funds to your linked bank. Processing times depend on method (ACH vs wire). Fees and estimates are shown before you confirm.
Do I need to convert USDC to dollars before withdrawing?
No. The app handles conversion and routing via partner rails when you initiate a withdrawal to your bank.

Identity & Verification

Why do I need to verify my identity?
Verification is required by law to meet government regulations for anti-money-laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist-financing (CTF) programs.

Because Monetic lets you buy and move digital assets such as USDC, our partners are legally obligated to confirm your identity before allowing any transactions. This ensures compliance with U.S. and international rules governing cryptocurrency purchases and prevents misuse of financial systems.

Completing identity verification protects both you and the network, helping us keep Monetic safe, transparent, and trusted.
What if my ID doesn’t scan properly?
Use good lighting, remove cases/covers, and scan a government-issued photo ID. If it still fails, contact support—our team can assist with a manual review where permitted.
Can I use Monetic without verification?
No.
How long does verification take?
Most users complete in a few minutes. If additional checks are needed, we’ll notify you in-app and by email.
Why was my verification rejected?
Common reasons: expired ID, mismatched details, unreadable photo, or restricted jurisdictions. You’ll receive guidance in-app. Update incorrect info and re-submit, or contact support for help.

App Access & Devices

Can I use Monetic on more than one device?
Yes. Add a device in Settings → Devices. For security, each device registers its own passkey. You can view and revoke device access any time.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Contact support to revoke the lost device and help you sign in on a new one; you may be asked to re-verify identity to recover your account. If you still have another authorized device, revoke the lost one from Settings → Devices.
Is there a web or desktop version?
You can read on desktop, but onboarding and payments are optimized for iOS/Android. Switching devices issues a new passkey during setup.

USDC & Stablecoin Transparency

What exactly is USDC?
USDC is a U.S. dollar–denominated digital asset designed to track $1.00. In Monetic, you always see dollar amounts; USDC moves behind the scenes to settle quickly.
Why does Monetic use USDC instead of dollars?
USDC enables instant settlement and global reach while we present everything in familiar dollar terms. That means faster payouts for sellers and a smoother experience for you.
Do I need a crypto wallet?
No. Monetic handles the technical steps with partners. You pay in dollars; the crypto rails are invisible.
Where is the value of USDC held?
USDC is issued by a third party and designed to be backed by reserves. Monetic doesn’t issue USDC and doesn’t custody your funds. For bank withdrawals, the app handles conversion and routing via partner rails.
Does my balance fluctuate with crypto markets?
No. Your app shows stable dollar amounts. USDC is designed to track $1.00, and confirmation screens show the exact amount you’ll pay/receive.

Refunds & Disputes

How do I request a refund from a seller?
Contact the seller using the receipt info. Include the reason and attachments (photos, messages, order number) to speed review.
What if the seller refuses to refund me?
Open a support ticket with your transaction ID, dates, and evidence of your interaction. We’ll review and, if appropriate, escalate with the seller and partners under their rules. Outcomes depend on policy and context.
How long does a refund take?
After seller approval, refunds typically appear as a USDC credit to your account promptly. Timing varies by original payment path and partner windows. Status appears in the app.
Can Monetic help if a seller doesn’t respond?
Yes. Provide your transaction ID, order details, and contact attempts. We’ll reach out and may limit the seller’s ability to collect while the case is reviewed.
What documentation should I keep?
Save the payment receipt, order confirmations, product/service photos, and any messages with the seller. This evidence speeds resolution.

Support & Help

How do I contact support?
Email support@monetic.xyz (account/transactions). Include your transaction ID and screenshots for faster triage.
What are support hours?
We are US based and work US based hours. For urgent issues (e.g., suspected compromise), put “URGENT” in the subject and describe clearly.
Where can I see system status?
If the app shows an outage banner or errors persist, check your email for notices or contact support for current status.
How do I report fraud or suspicious activity?
Email support@monetic.xyz immediately with your account email, device details, and transaction IDs. We’ll secure your account, investigate, and coordinate with relevant parties.

Account & Settings

How do I update my email or phone number?
Settings → Profile. For sensitive changes we may ask for re-verification before changes take effect.
How do I close my account?
Wallets on Monetic can’t be permanently deleted, but we can disable all activity linked to your account.

To request this, email support@monetic.xyz from your registered address. Our team will turn off your ability to send, receive, or top up funds, and your wallet will no longer function for payments.

Any remaining balance should be withdrawn first. Once disabled, you’ll receive confirmation along with details about how your account data is stored for compliance purposes.
Will my transaction history remain available after closing?
Request an export before closure. We retain limited records for compliance, but you won’t be able to sign in after closing.
Can I export my payment history or receipts?
Yes. Recent Activity → Export to download CSV or PDF for a date range. Need a custom format? Contact support.

Getting Started

Is this a credit application?
No. Verification confirms your identity for regulated partners and protects against money laundering and fraud. There’s no credit check or hard pull.
Why do you ask for a selfie and ID?
It prevents account takeover and fraud. A one-time facial match helps keep your account secure and compliant.
How is my data protected?
We encrypt data in transit and at rest, follow least-privilege access, and store only what’s needed to operate your account. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Do I need to re-verify later?
Rarely—only if regulations change or your details are updated. You’ll be notified in-app if needed.
Can I use Monetic Pay on desktop?
You can browse on desktop, but onboarding and payments are optimized for iOS/Android. Adding a new device issues a new passkey during setup.
Are my payments in crypto?
You always pay in familiar dollar amounts. Monetic moves your payment over USDC rails behind the scenes and settles instantly to the seller— no wallets or conversions required on your end.
How do refunds work?
Refunds depend on the seller and transaction method. Once approved, you’ll typically receive a USDC credit to your Monetic account. Track status in Recent Activity.
Who do I contact for support?
Account/transactions: support@monetic.xyz. Compliance: compliance@monetic.xyz.
